THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

A few years ago, Helen and Peter Fotiu, an active couple from Plymouth, decided to make the most of their “freedom years” and move to a retirement community where they could simplify and rightsize their lives.

They spent the next couple of years researching communities in the area. Upon deciding on Fox Run, in Novi, they chose to reserve a two-bedroom home in the community’s newest residence building, Hudson Park, which opens this month.

Natural next step
As moving time got closer, the couple was so excited to move from their house that they moved into a fully furnished existing apartment home more than one month before their preselected home was finished.

“We had heard so much about Fox Run from friends and relatives,” Mrs. Fotiu says. “Everyone seems very happy here . . . it was very easy to decide.”

This month, the Fotius will formally move to their permanent home at Fox Run—a Jackson model apartment home, featuring two bedrooms and a spectacular view of the community.

She says they will use the second bedroom as an office or den, and she won’t miss cleaning extra, unused rooms.

Moving resources sell home fast
During the moving process, the couple had lots of help and support from  Erickson Realty & Moving Services and Personal Moving Consultant Mary Wolfe.

“Mary came out to our house. She looked things over and made suggestions of what we could do to make things more attractive for selling,” Mrs. Fotiu says.

With the help of Wolfe and her team, as well as a great real estate agent, the Fotius sold their home in just four days.

“We were very fortunate,” Mrs. Fotiu says. “Everyone at Fox Run has been very helpful.”

Settling in before moving in
During the month before they moved to their official new home, the Fotius settled into the community. They dined at two of Fox Run’s newest eateries—Signatures Restaurant and the Jockey Pub, both located in the Belmont Clubhouse. “The food has been very good,” Mrs. Fotiu says.

The couple likes the fact that their new home at Hudson Park is just a few steps away from the Belmont Clubhouse. Other draws for them included round-the-clock security and more than 100 clubs and groups on campus they can join.

“It’s easy to make friends here,” Mrs. Fotiu says.

Eagerly waiting
She and her husband have been watching eagerly as Hudson Park receives its finishing touches.

It’s only a matter of days before the couple will be one of the first to walk through the doors at Hudson Park and settle into their new home— and they can’t wait.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” says Mrs. Fotiu. “Nothing compares to Fox Run.”
