A new program at Fox Run in Novi, Erickson Realty & Moving Services, is helping people sell their houses in record time—often in less than two months.

Harriet Fairbrother, who’s moving to Fox Run from Farmington Hills, sold her home in just five days.

“In this market it’s pretty amazing,” Fairbrother says. With the help of Mary Wolfe, personal moving consultant at Fox Run, Fairbrother really got things moving—literally.

Staging is a key factor
Wolfe gave Fairbrother some helpful tips on how to best stage her home, which Fairbrother promptly followed.

“We had our consultation and focused on rearranging furniture,” Wolfe says. “I also gave her some Realtor recommendations.”

Wolfe says she wasn’t surprised Fairbrother’s house sold in just a matter of days.

“She did everything we recommended,” Wolfe says. “She removed wallpaper, painted the wood paneling in the family room, replaced all of the carpeting, and moved furniture around.” Wolfe says all of the adjustments would help make the room more appealing to potential buyers and would help them envision their lives there.

Wolfe says as soon as the house was staged, photos were placed online along with the for-sale ad.

“I had people calling for the house before the sign was even up outside,” Fairbrother says.

Wolfe recommended neutral colors for the carpeting and walls. All in all, it took about two days to stage the house.

Fairbrother’s house sold so quickly, arrangements have been made for her to stay in a fully furnished existing apartment home at Fox Run until her chosen home is ready for move-in at the community’s newest building, Hudson Park.

Fairbrother says she was encouraged by Fox Run’s “friendly and helpful staff” and was surprised her home sold so quickly.

“I didn’t expect the house to sell so fast,” she says. “Mary told me my house could sell in three months, and even then I thought she was kidding.”

Success stories abound with new program
Barbara Justice also had great luck with the program— she sold her Farmington Hills house in six weeks.

“Mary really helped me with the staging, and I took some of her suggestions,” Justice says.

“She was very helpful. Fox Run is to be commended on helping people with selling their homes,” she says.

Justice is also getting some help with the physical aspect of the move, with the help of Moving Forward, a company that helps get items packed and transported. Moving Forward works in conjunction with Wolfe and Erickson Realty & Moving Services.

“Everybody has been very supportive [with the move],” Justice says. Like Fairbrother, she too will be moving to Fox Run before her new apartment home at Hudson Park is ready.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” Justice says.

Working as a successful team
According to Wolfe, the new Erickson Realty & Moving Services program is a huge hit.

“We have had tremendous success and positive feedback,” Wolfe says, adding she truly enjoys helping people sell their homes so quickly.

“We always try to do anything we can to accommodate people in their move; each person is unique,” Wolfe says. “As a team, we really make everything happen.”
