Twitter is a “mini-blogging” tool that attempts to answer just that. According to the website, Twitter is a global community of friends and strangers answering one simple question: What are you doing?

I call it a “mini-blogging” tool because the posts are not meant to be very long. In fact, they are limited to 140 characters—the same number as SMS text messaging. That’s so messages can go directly to your phone. Many people have the messages sent directly to their phones; it’s an easy way for groups to stay in touch (up-to-the-minute).

Give it a try at www.twitter.com.
