Arizona - I'm not quite sure why you'd ever have any problems turning everything off. I'm not an electronics professional, but I've heard that leaving your computer and monitor on can be a problem if there is a power surge and it can damage your equipment. I think you would be ok if you plugged in both your computer and monitor into a surge protector. Professional surge protectors will protect your equipment and will insure you up to a certain amount. You can then leave them on all the time or shut them off, it is up to you, but you should never have to worry about it. The monitor and computer have settings to "go to sleep" when not in use, but even in that state it still uses power. If electrical bills are not a concern, you should be ok leaving everything on, but I'd recommend getting a surge protector.

| I've heard that turning the computer on and off too often shortens the life of the circuit connections. When turning on a computer the wiring generates heat and when turning it off generates cool. Too much flexing. |

| So, in the situation where the person is concerned with electric bills,(in which I don't think usage is going to drive that bill way up anyway), turning equipment on and off probably is not good for it in the long run, eh? Thanks for your response, if I can get one. |

I have 7 TV's , 2 of them are in my Motorhome. I watch all of them via Direct TV. I do not know if any of them are Digital. In your rcent column, if I understood it correctly, if I have Direct TV I do not need to do any thing and I do not need a converter box. Is this correct ?????? |
