What do you think of stem cell research?  Could it be the future of medicine?  Is this an ethical way to discover cures for cancer, Alzheimer's, ALS, etc.?  Discuss!

It's very important and definitely is ethical, in my mind. My wife has acute macular degeneration and is now legally blind. Her retinal specialist said that her only hope for recovering some eyesight is through stem cells. He said that work is being done in some universities using rats and it is promising. The next step would be limited research with humans. He said that it's possible to help her in her lifetime (she's 75) if the work is properly funded real soon.
