I think I have a solution to our illegal immigration problem. Senate and Congress can't seem to come to an understanding: amnesty? guestworker program? make illegals pay a fine to change their  status to 'legal'? No resolution as yet. Meanwhile,  Americans are doing all the fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, and are getting horribly slaughtered, as Central Americans continue to swarm into our country and pilfer from us. My idea is to tell these illegals  to put two years into our military, to fight alongside our courageous men and women, This would make them eligible to become legal residents, on the way to becoming citizens--if this is their desire.  Granted, not all would be physically able. All this would be by choice; if they want to join our Army with a promise of legal residency, all well and good. It just might be a feasible avenue to legal residency.
