My wife and I are preparing to run a 10k race in April and I thought this would be a great site to get some "tips of the trade".  Any advice on the best training techniques for running?

Thanks!

Well Jim, I'm not a runner, but I am a geek. So I don't exactly have running advice but I can tell you about a cool tool that will allow you to track how far you've run (or walked or jogged). It's called gmap pedometer, and I wrote an article about it available here on this site: Tip: Gmaps Pedometer

I'm currently training for a marathon. The best site I've found for beginners looking to train injury-free is www.JeffGalloway.com

Good Luck,

I have been doing some training for an upcoming race myself and i have found the Gmaps Pedometer site extremely helpful. What a cool tool! It easily helps me map out different routes in my neighborhood when my existing route gets boring. Good Luck with the training...

Be kind to your knees at your age, don't run. There are a whole lot of exercises you can get into instead.

As a long time runner, I'm not sure I agree. In fact, Runner's Magazine just had an article suggesting that running can actually help hold off arthritis. Any docs out their want to comment?
