| "It's time to accept that the cord between the United States and China
must be cut. It's also time for the citizens of Erie to..."
protest against our community having Zibo, China as a "sister city".
If the American government and the manufacturers refuse to see the danger we are in, we citizens must take charge by boycotting all Chinese made products.
Recently, our Mayor Mr. Joe Sinnott, City Council member Mr. Thompson, and other delegates from Erie took a trip to Zibo, China to inquire, and plan future business ventures between our two cities.
I personally consider this action as a total disregard to our safety.
What started with tainted dog and cat food that put America into a panic, spread to adult products, and now to our children through their favorite toys.
Some may accept that these past incidents were accidental, but after learning on the news tonight that asbestos was found in the fingerprint powder of a childrens popular detective kit that was made in China, we can no longer afford to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I wonder what could be next...anthrax?? We all need to wonder.
CNN reported that perhaps a third party would have to be employed to be in charge of "quality control" of Chinese made products. This is ridiculous!
The perfect solution would be for Mattel, and all the other companies currently hiring China to manufacture their products to give poverty-stricken Americans the manufacturing jobs.
China is not the advanced country we are led to believe.
It is a country that brutally houses, and kills dogs and cats on their street corners for human consumption. Sending the fur that was stripped alive from these animals to the US and is labled in our stores as "faux fur"
Why do we continue to trust them with our lives?
Better yet, why does our government, and our own Mayor continue to trust them, and seek out relations with them.
Upon his arrival back to Erie, Mayor Joe Sinnott stated he would like us "To embrace their ways". Exactly what "ways" was he talking about? Perhaps we,
the concerned citizens should ask the Mayor for an answer to this question?
Mayor Joe Sinnott can be reached by phone at: 814-870-1201, or by email at:
jsinnott@erie.pa.us .
I personally believe the influx of tainted and dangerous products from China is not accidental.
I urge all Americans to check labels, ask questions, and most importantly, boycott all Chinese made imports.
