I had not seen the science cited, but believe in this intuitively. I write poetry or something every day (somewhat like a walking journal) and also draw. It focuses on feelings--whatever you are feeling, such as joy, loss, pain. If more seniors did this rather than taking escapist medications, it would become a spiritual revolution--even if a minor one. The Reversal When all is night With only tunnel At the end of light, Turn and go the other way. Darkness at your back And moving blind at first, Unsure, the eyes not seeing, Or seeing shades of gray, Edging forward Until fear begins to drop away, Something opens now And what it is, is you And what was always there And nothing more, And it is you alone But everywhere: You are this new day. Hi, I joined this site to make a reply to this topic. I am living proof that being creative or having a creative outlet works. 3 Years ago I'd given up on life due to myriad illnesses & obesity etc... Then a new nurse practitioner got me on a diet from which I've since lost 70 lbs & I went back to oil painting- something I'd done in my youth. Today I am a new woman-I paint all the time, I am enjoying myself, am interested in life again, & most importantly, am truly happy! No matter how old you are follow your bliss (passion in life)- you'd be surprised by the benefits to you & those around you. Good health to all, Cheers, Queenbee xoxox
