Some states have increased the requirements for high school diplomas-- do you believe this is necessary?

What do you think of the state of high schools in our country?  Are they adequate?  Are they graduating students that are unprepared for life?

What would you change?

Students are just as well prepaerd today as they were when I was growing up.
The teachers are still the ones that make a difference. No Child Left Behind is great in theory not in practice.
We need less tests and to let the teachers teach!

As a guest I beg to differ on the state of public schools. They are horrendous and have been taken out of taxpayers hands for many decades.Since the socialist Dewey was responsible for the changing curriculum our schools have dumbed down the students and it gets even worse.

Deweys ideas are to make robots of the children , so how can we then compete with other countries. It's no secret the US comes in close to the bottom in international contests .As a septuagenarian I learned the 3 Rs, readin' 'ritin' and 'rithmetic , now we have the 3 S's , sports , sex ed and social studies.

I see many mistakes in spelling and the grammar is atrocious.I can pick up any newspaper or magazine and see some really dumb statements , even the "leader" in DC can't even put together two sentences that make sense.DUH?

Most teachers today don't have masters degrees but degrees in teaching, whatever that means.I would agree though , that teachers shoud be left to teach without adhering to socialist guidelines.
