THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
More than 100 Wind Crest movie-lovers turned out for the first-ever “Friday Night at the Movies” at the Town Center Clubhouse this winter. But this wasn’t just any movie night; this was a “huge” deal.
At 8 p.m., the Fireside Lounge was magically transformed, as the community’s 133-inch big screen dropped down for the very first time. The movie was the Academy Award-winning Chicago; and complete with a popcorn station, the room felt more like a theater than a lounge. Some sat in comfy chairs, while others, like Jim and Virginia Murphy, cozied up on a loveseat, holding hands.
Having a big screen of this proportion might seem lavish, but it pales in comparison to what the future holds, says Marketing Events Coordinator Kelly Buffington. As the community builds out, she reports, long-term plans for a second clubhouse include a 400–500-seat auditorium where residents will be able to enjoy movies, plays, and other entertainment.
Like other tentatively planned amenities, the auditorium’s debut rides on Wind Crest’s growth. And if the community’s current popularity is any indication, then a new clubhouse could be right around the corner.
“Word is spreading fast about our community,” says Community Resources Manager Sharon Prouse, “and lots of nice perks are on the horizon.”
