THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Ghouls, goblins and a cast of other creative characters haunted the halls of Wind Crest on Halloween, taking part in a lunchtime costume parade and an early evening Trick-or-Treat Street.
Lunchtime at the Fly’n B Café came with a side of entertainment, as residents—some in costume—watched their favorite staff members trumpet through the dining area by department in themerelated getups during the costume parade.
Among the more extravagant and unique creations were Chinese takeout containers worn by Human Resources and Wizard of Oz characters played by Resident Life. Resident Life won “best costume” honors, while General Services took first prize for its pumpkin-carving creation.
“We enjoyed the lighthearted competition, but the real idea behind all of this was to bring [everyone] together to connect and have some fun,” said Kristy Hebert, Wind Crest wellness coordinator. Like many other events at Wind Crest, the Halloween extravaganza provided an opportunity for residents to share a good time with their neighbors as well as families and friends who don’t live at the community.
The fun continued around dinnertime as more than a handful of grandchildren stirred up a scare with a twohour Trick-or-Treat Street just outside the Fireside Restaurant. Several who live at the community volunteered to hand out candy to the little ones, and everyone applauded as a line of delighted youngsters wove through the dining area to show off their costumes.
“Aren’t they just adorable?” said one resident enjoying dinner. “You just want to eat them up!”
