THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

It was a social event and a concert. It was a dance and a forum. It was all these rolled up into one. What was it? The exclusive get-together for Wind Crest Priority List members on April 3 at the Recreation Center at Southridge in Highlands Ranch.

This two-hour event was proof positive that membership in the Priority List has its privileges. About 85 members showed up to mingle with others who are also planning a move to Wind Crest. As a bonus, they were treated to plenty of food and quality entertainment by the Highlands Ranch Concert Band, which performed back-to-back big band favorites.

While chatting with a new friend and munching on fruit-filled pastry cups and  chocolate-dipped cake bites, Marilyn Farmer commented, “I like to see that there are so many other people who are as happy with Wind Crest as I am.” Farmer added that events such as this enable future community members to feel like a part of something special.

Validation
For Dick and Darlene Wesbrook, who plan to move to Wind Crest from downtown Denver in the not-too-distant future, this gathering made them feel even better about their decision to choose Erickson. “This event and others like it are a validation of everything we like about WindCrest,” says Dick  Wesbrook.

For this couple, the entertainment was the highlight of the  afternoon. Asked if he was enjoying himself, Dick Wesbrook replied, “Are you kidding? This is our music!” From Glenn Miller to Tommy Dorsey, the band played many of the Wesbrooks’ favorites—including “In the Mood.”

“Having the band here brought back many memories for us,” added Darlene Wesbrook, who appreciated the kinship with other likeminded attendees.

Win-win
Beyond invitations to special events, Dick Wesbrook says the Priority List is definitely worth joining. “The Priority List holds your place in line,” he says. Since the $1,000 Priority List deposit is fully refundable, it’s a win-win move (there is a one-time nonrefundable $150 administrative fee). If you move to Wind Crest, that $1,000 goes straight toward your entrance deposit.

“Every day that goes by, another person signs up ahead of you, so it’s  important to get your foot in the door now that our first two residence buildings are almost full,” says Wind Crest Retirement Counselor Molly Thorne-Dhieux.

“Joining helps secure your place in line and gives you a much better chance of finding what you want in any buildings that may be on the horizon,” she adds.
