Whether you’re getting ready to retire or you’ve already done so, you have earned the right to enjoy life to its fullest. And Wind Crest goes the extra mile to ensure that you achieve and maintain the best possible health so you can get the most out of your new adventure.

That’s the idea behind Erickson HealthSM—an integrated health care and wellness system that offers an array of benefits, activities, resources, and programs that come together to pave the way to optimal health, says Bridget Babcock, Wind Crest’s associate executive director.

From on-site doctors and electronic medical records to healthful dining options, boundless activities, safety precautions, and unwavering support, Erickson  Health has you covered.

Unparalleled on-site medical care
At Wind Crest, having a full-time physician at its onsite medical center is  business as usual. Like all Erickson communities, Wind Crest’s doctor will be board-certified and familiar with treating older Americans, and it’s not uncommon to be seen the same day you call.

And if you’ve ever been frustrated by feeling rushed through a doctor’s visit, don’t worry. Erickson doctors spend an average of 25 minutes with each  patient— which is virtually unheard of in most private practices, Babcock says.

With a doctor on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it doesn’t matter  what you need or when you need it—Wind Crest will be there. Need a specialist? Several will hold regular office hours in the medical center. Require physical therapy? Even that is handled in the comfort of the medical center.

“So much is available just a short indoor walk from your apartment that you’ll wonder how you ever did without this kind of convenience,” Babcock says.

If your treatment requires special tests be done off campus, or you simply choose to keep your current doctor, you can use Wind Crest’s free  transportation services.

High-tech medical records system
Your health is too precious to leave to chance, and that’s why Wind Crest and all Erickson communities  use the Centricity electronic medical records system. This technology “files” your medical records electronically, providing an efficient way for health professionals to keep on top of your medical history.

Since your medical history may include allergies, current medications, and recent tests, Centricity can be life-saving, Babcock says. Even if you choose to  retain an outside doctor, Centricity enables Wind Crest’s medical center to have up-to-date, accurate medical records on campus so that if an emergency arises, medical staff will have access to your medical history.

For example, if you are traveling away from your Wind Crest home and you need access to those records, the physician caring for you in an emergency needs only to make a call and your records will be instantly accessed—quite possibly avoiding a medical mistake.

Though demand for electronic medical records is growing, Erickson is still one of less than 5% of medical practices in the country that are using electronic medical records.

Everything for a healthy lifestyle
With 52,000 square feet of recreation space in the Town Center Clubhouse, there’s an activity, club, amenity, or class just about everywhere you turn at Wind Crest. And that does wonders for your overall health—not to mention  your social and emotional wellbeing, Babcock says.

Want to swim during a blizzard? No problem. The year-round, 60-foot  swimming pool is always kept at an inviting 82 to 88 degrees. If you’d rather be outdoors, there are limitless opportunities for hiking, biking, and walking just outside your door along the Highline Canal.

From the modern fitness center complete with fitness specialists to classes like tai chi and yoga, Wind Crest strives to stay current with the latest trends, says Wind Crest Resident Life Director Kimberly Pate. And since most classes and activities are born of resident requests and suggestions, Wind Crest’s activities will be unique.

Even the dining is on your side, with delicious healthy options to fit just about any dietary needs or preferences. From fresh ingredients to limited additives, Wind Crest offers you plenty of choices for balanced, restaurant-quality meals. Forget about reservations or parking hassles—your table is just a short indoor walk away.

Looking out for your future
Erickson Health is a comprehensive program of activities, features, and  amenities that help you achieve and maintain optimal health. On top of that, residents can feel safe and secure with a 24-hour gated entrance, emergency alert devices in every apartment, and a fulltime security team who are trained as medical firstresponders.

Erickson research shows that while about one in four Americans will need  nursing care at some point in their life, at an Erickson community only about one in 13 will ever need such care. At Wind Crest, you’ll have a home for life. And in the rare event that you exhaust your funds, you will never be asked to leave.
