THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Doreen Crawford may still be living in Scottsdale, Ariz., for another couple of months, but she can already picture herself perched at her breakfast bar in her new Fenton apartment at Wind Crest—streams of natural light spilling into the open kitchen and living room as she sips a cup of coffee and plans her day.
New chapter in life
For Crawford, who goes by Donna, this new chapter in her life is an adventure she’s looking forward to for a number of reasons. One of them is the prospect of being able to see her family more often.
“My daughter Janice lives very close to Wind Crest with her husband Rich, and I have another daughter and son-in- law who are considering a move here from Minnesota,” she says. In addition to her two daughters, Crawford also has a son living in Minneapolis, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Crawford says the prospect of the Wind Crest lifestyle is very appealing to her. “With all the social opportunities, I decided this might be a really good move for me,” she says.
“Another big thing was that if I was going to come to Colorado, I wanted to be completely independent—so Wind Crest seemed like a nice fit.”
‘Just right’
For Crawford, the two bedroom Fenton is just right. “It’s not too big, not too small, and it has everything I need,” she says. Plus, the kitchen, dining, and living areas are all open, leaving room to entertain. “It’s nice and bright, and it faces a wonderfully landscaped area with a beautiful view.”
Ready to ‘get involved’
Crawford, who worked for 30 years as an executive secretary, considers herself a very active person who might likely be found taking computer classes or doing water aerobics at Wind Crest. “I’m excited to get involved in some of the activities and meet new people,” she says. “I’m in good health, and I think a change will be good for me right now.”
