A two bedroom, one bath Fairmont floor plan will be just right for Thelma Nelson when she moves in to Wind Crest this summer. She knows it. She  followed her instincts.

An outgoing woman with an infectious laugh, she will be moving from a large, four bedroom colonial home in Centennial, Colorado. But she knows moving to Wind Crest following the community’s Grand Opening this summer is the right decision because she did her research, thought it over, looked at her options and sat down with Retirement Counselor Molly Thorne-Dhieux.

“Your thoughts carry you a long way,” Nelson said. “I just knew it was right. And I’ve gotten the best help from Molly and the entire Wind Crest staff. They’ve given me all the help I need. It’s an adventure, and I’m looking  forward to it.”

A style all her own
Nelson said after looking at all of the unique floor plans offered at Wind Crest, the Fairmont was right for her. The walk-in closet and bathroom that are  connected to the master suite is just what she was looking for. The two bedrooms and living room, flooded with natural light from large picture windows, were also draws for Nelson.

She said the Fairmont gives her the right amount of room, without any wasted space. “I love the idea of two bedrooms but I didn’t need the extra bath,” she said. Many of Nelson’s family, including a daughter and granddaughter, live close by so she doesn’t expect to host out of town guests. “But the extra bedroom will be great. I am considering turning it into an office or den-type family room. Somewhere I can get away and unwind,” she explained. She said it would be perfect for a reading room or library.

New friends, familiar places
A basketball, football, and golf fan, Nelson said she is looking forward to  meeting people with similar interests. “I’m looking forward to the camaraderie,” she said with a laugh. “I’ve lived near the Wind Crest site for years, but am looking forward to getting to know a bunch of new people.”

But Nelson, a retired school teacher, said that she also hopes to continue  volunteering at the local hospital’s admitting office once she moves in. “It’s my first love,” she said.

An easy decision
Nelson said that she had considered a few options before choosing Wind  Crest. She thought about staying in her home, but the maintenance and upkeep of the house was a challenge. And keeping up with the variety of bills remained a daunting task each month. Then she considered moving in with family. But that, although appealing, wasn’t the answer either. “My family asked me to move in with them, but you don’t want to impose on their lives. Plus I have a life of my own too!”

So after looking at all of her options, Nelson decided Wind Crest was the best fit. “I did the research and trusted my instincts,” she said. “And I’m looking forward to moving in, I’m really excited about it. The Grand Opening can’t come soon enough!”
