THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Wind Crest, on pace to open this summer, is already among the most popular of Erickson’s 18 retirement communities across the nation.
Community officials announced in late February that the demand for homes has been overwhelming. Wind Crest Retirement Counselor Molly Thorne- Dhieux said, “Over 90% of our homes are already reserved and it’s taken a real effort to keep up with the requests for information kits and tours.”
The community is averaging approximately 1,000 requests for information each month from people who are interested in moving to Wind Crest. The group’s Priority List, an exclusive way for those interested in reserving a home at Wind Crest to reserve their space in line, has grown to 497 members.
Seeing is believing Thorne-Dhieux explained it this way, “I think it’s really because the public can see the community. They can put their arms around it. They can see the building rising out of the ground and a beautiful campus taking shape. Plus, I’m sure they have been meeting all of the wonderful people that are moving in to the community.” She continued, “The word is definitely out on what a special place Wind Crest is.”
Wind Crest, in Highlands Ranch, touts a well manicured, maintenance-free campus; glass-enclosed, climate-controlled walkways connecting buildings; a spacious clubhouse with restaurants; social clubs, and a variety of conveniences for working class retirees. | |

The odds are in your favor
Thorne-Dhieux said that if someone is considering Wind Crest, their best opportunity to get the apartment home of their choice is by joining the community’s Priority List. The list reserves a person’s place in line and gives them the first right of refusal when the apartment style of their choice becomes available.
“The race is definitely for the swift,” she says, “Every day that someone waits to join the Priority List, one or two people jump in line ahead of them. If people are considering Wind Crest for next year, or even five years down the line, they should take a look at our free Information Kit and join the Priority List as soon as possible.”
She added, “Some apartment styles have wait times of several years. The Priority List is really your best option for getting the home you want. It’s like stacking the deck in your favor.”
“It’s definitely moving fast since groundbreaking,” Executive Director Craig Erickson said. “We are pleased with the interest in the community. It’s going even faster than we had anticipated. Each day we’re accepting more and more reservations.”
A new view of retirement
The demand is understandable. Wind Crest is one of the newest Erickson communities and the first in Colorado. Currently over 18,000 people call an Erickson community home throughout the United States.
The founder and CEO of the company, John Erickson, has been a pioneer in retirement living for over 25 years. Erickson has founded 18 communities in 10 states with more on the way. He has become a pioneer in retirement living through a number of unique initiatives.
“The idea is to reshape America’s negative image of aging,” John Erickson says of his vision. To accomplish that goal, Erickson has created on-campus health care systems for better living. He recently donated $5 million dollars to help found the Erickson School of Aging at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Erickson also created Retirement Living, new television programming directed
specifically for the retirement
age audience.
