New buildings now over 90% sold out

Wind Crest officials announced this month that the first Erickson community coming to Colorado is on pace to be sold out by the time it opens in the summer of 2007.

“There are still a few models remaining, but for the most part, we’re sold out,” Retirement Counselor Molly Thorne-Dhieux said. “The demand for apartment homes has been overwhelming in these initial months.” At press time, 98% of the homes in Cottonwood Court and over 90% of the homes in Blue Spruce Ridge were already spoken for, she said.

Getting more than you pay for
Thorne-Dhieux attributed the community’s popularity to being a good value for the retirement dollar. “We really do offer more for your dollar here at Wind Crest. No other community offers such a full complement of conveniences for such a reasonable price.”

Wind Crest residents write only two checks a month, one for a monthly service package and one for the phone bill. Additionally, people no longer have to worry about maintaining a yard or finding a trustworthy repairman. “All that’s included,” Thorne-Dhieux said. The flat rate monthly service package covers all of the maintenance-free services, property taxes, electricity, water, and gas. “It covers all of the necessities and is on par and many times less than what people are paying now to live in their home and maintain it.”

Weatherproof wonders
Denver’s harsh winter has made the features of Wind Crest even more apparent. “With the harsh winter we’ve had so far, I think a lot of people are really interested in the weatherproof aspect. The idea of not having to shovel snow or fight traffic and lines at the grocery store is pretty appealing,” Thorne- Dhieux said.

Wind Crest offers climate-controlled walkways connecting the buildings to a 52,000 square foot clubhouse. The clubhouse will feature an in-house convenience store, Aquatics Center, restaurants, a Medical Center, a fullservice postal center, and a variety of other conveniences.

“Essentially everything you could possibly need is under one roof,” Thorne- Dhieux said. “Getting snowed in isn’t a bad thing here. We do the work and you can enjoy the view by the clubhouse fireplace.”

Thorne-Dhieux also pointed out that snow doesn’t mean limited activities at Wind Crest. “There’s plenty to do to keep you busy. You can keep fit in our top-notch Fitness Center, jump into a card game or billiards tournament. And then there’s all of the special interest clubs.” Erickson communities help facilitate any activity or club the residents wish to create. For example, at Sedgebrook, a new Erickson Community in Chicago, there are already 40 resident-run clubs that have been started since the community opened just a couple months ago.

Improving your odds
The biggest problem, Thorne-Dhieux said has been keeping up with the demand for homes. To ensure those that are interested in Wind Crest have a chance to get the home they want, the community uses a “Priority List” system.

“The best chance to still get into Wind Crest when it opens this summer is by joining the community’s Priority List,” she said. “It reserves your place in line. If a style of home that meets your preferences becomes available, we’ll let you know and give you first right of refusal, based upon the date you joined.” She continued, “Obviously, the sooner you join the Priority List the better your chance to get in.”

Thorne-Dhieux said that Wind Crest and Erickson build apartment homes based on demand but did not say if the community has started planning another building. “That hasn’t been determined yet,” she said. For more information on Wind Crest call 1-800-834-7188.
