Some Coloradans choose Wind Crest for the amenities. Others join for the maintenance-free lifestyle or to secure their financial nest egg. But Priority List member and traveler Mary Jane Taylor from Brook Hill, Colo., said that she joined the Priority List to give herself the most options for the future.

“I figured I’m 82, what am I waiting for? I feel great and do a lot, so why not enjoy as much as possible?”

Beautiful design
Taylor, who has lived all over the country, including the historical town of Savannah, Ga. and the states of Illinois and Indiana, was recently given the option to reserve a home that will open alongside the clubhouse next summer. She gladly accepted.

Familiar with the details of home design and remodeling, Taylor was impressed with the variety of floor plans. She eventually decided on the Lancaster. She said she is looking forward to customizing her new home. “Maybe I’ll get Corian counters in the kitchen. And I am looking forward to the sunroom,” she said. “I never knew there was a community that I could take all of my furniture to. They are quite spacious.”

Options for the future
Taylor said that just about all of her questions were answered by the free Information Kit. Then she joined the Priority List and secured her spot in line and ensured that she would get the style of apartment house that she wanted when she was ready.

Molly Thorne-Dhieux, retirement counselor at Wind Crest, said, “It’s really a good idea to join the Priority List. It gives you the best options if you are considering moving either now or years down the road.”

Taylor says, “I joined because I was thinking about the future. There was no pressure from the sales staff. In fact, I think I put more pressure on them. Molly, she was as sweet as can be. The Welcome Center staff was a joy to work with.”

No slowing down
Taylor, wears her age like a badge. “I always wanted to be 16 to drive. And I said, once I get there, I’ll be proud of my age. And so here I am.” Keeping the active lifestyle she was accustomed to was a deciding factor for Taylor. “I drive a lot. I take trips to the art museum, and out shopping, but it will be nice not to have to do the driving if you don’t want to. Being able to drop things off at the postal center and pick up milk and bread without climbing into the car and fighting traffic will be nice. It’s all right down the hallway, or someone can drive you there.”

Taylor said that she is also looking forward to having friends close by. “I love my home, I love my neighbors but it’s just not the same in the neighborhood anymore. I thought it would be nice when I move to have some friends nearby. A lot of my friends are coming too. I’ll get to socialize with them. Plus I can bring my cat.”
