THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Tallgrass Creek went to
the dogs on April 4. Three
Lucys, a Cappy, Apple, Tiger,
Hector, Bob, and many
other four-legged guests of
honor ran and played. Of
course, there were people
there too.
More than 60 people
gathered together for the
dedication of Rudy’s Run,
the dog park at Tallgrass
Creek. The dog park is in
the northeast corner of the
property, beside the resident
gardens. And despite a chilly
early April afternoon, dogs
and their people joined together
to celebrate its official
opening.
The dog park offers a secure,
fenced space for romping,
a ground-level doggy
drinking fountain, and a
shady gazebo perfect for
people who want to socialize
and relax.
Wanda Williams, who
lives at Tallgrass Creek, cut
the ribbon. Other participants
included: John Harned, executive director
of Tallgrass Creek; Mark
Meisenheimer, Tallgrass
Creek community relations
manager; Kevin Jeffries,
president and CEO of
the Leawood Chamber of
Commerce; Kirk Young, a
member of the board of directors
of the Overland Park
Chamber of Commerce; and
vendors specializing in pet
services and products.
As part of the dedication
ceremony, Tallgrass Creek
presented a $400 check to
Wayside Waifs, a Kansas
City shelter and adoption
service for animals that have
been abandoned or given up.
