THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Life has come to Redtail
View at Tallgrass Creek.
Residents have started moving
into their new homes in
the second building at the
Overland Park retirement
community.
Paula Dunmire was the
first resident to move into
Redtail View. Within a few
days she seemed completely
comfortable and at home at
Tallgrass Creek.
“It’s perfect,” Dunmire
says. “It is just what I expected.”
Filling up fast
Don and Barb Grady
moved into the new building
in March, and while they are
still unpacking they report
being pleased with their choice
of Tallgrass Creek.
“My favorite thing about
living here is dinner,” Barb
Grady says. “I never have
been a big fan of cooking.
The food is good and the
people are so nice. I like how
they mix it up and we eat
with different people.”
A quick sale
The Gradys put their
home on the market in February,
traditionally one of
the worst months of the year
to try to sell a home. They
were also trying to sell when
the housing market was
reportedly slumping across
the country.
“We thought if it goes,
it goes,” she says. “And then
it went. The first person who
looked at it bought it.”
Barb Grady says she
thinks the housing slump has
been blown out of proportion,
and what is happening
nationally may not be
accurate for local markets.
She also says that she and her
husband were comfortable
because they were on the
Tallgrass Creek Priority List.
Priority List
The Gradys joined the
Priority List in June 2007.
Future residents’ names go
on the list, along with their
apartment home preferences
and moving timetables. Then
they pay a $1,000 refundable
deposit that “holds their place
in line.” When their chosen
style of apartment is available,
they are informed. If they
want the apartment, then it is
theirs. If not ready, they pass,
but their names stay at the top
of the list.
