Johnson County Community College is just a ten-minute drive from Tallgrass Creek, and in February its Carlsen Center for Performing Arts is hosting a variety of programs that will brighten the winter doldrums:
Feb. 1—The Moiseyev Dance Company from Russia, acclaimed as the greatest of all folk dance companies, will perform in Yardley Hall at 8 p.m.
Feb. 2—The 5 Browns, a quintet of brothers and sisters who are virtuoso concert pianists, will play in Yardley Hall at 8 p.m.
Feb. 9—Alice Coote, mezzo-soprano, will perform in the Polsky Theatre at 8 p.m.
Feb. 15 & 16—StepCrew, described as having a style that combines tap and Irish dancing with a twist, will have its U.S. debut in Yardley Hall at 8 p.m.
Feb. 23 & 24—Opera a la Carte, a Gilbert and Sullivan touring company, will perform musical comedies The Mikado (Feb. 23) and The Gondoliers (Feb. 24) in Yardley Hall at 8 p.m.
Feb. 29—Spirit of Uganda, celebrating East African culture through songs, dance, and drums, will perform in Yardley Hall at 7 p.m.
