Members of the Tallgrass Creek community are enjoying meals at the newly opened Marketplace Café, Sunflower Bistro, and Blue Sky Restaurant in the Audubon Clubhouse—a short walk from their apartment homes.

Just up the road, residents can also find a friendly dining atmosphere at Piccadilly, a cafeteria-style restaurant at 11741 Metcalf, or about a five-minute drive north of Tallgrass Creek.

Good food, good cause
The restaurant serves classic American cooking and a variety of other choices, including Mexican and Italian entrées. The Piccadilly’s customer base is seniors, says Trivel Wolaridge, the restaurant manager. Building a relationship with Tallgrass Creek, he says, is beneficial to both the restaurant and the community.

Each time a person  who lives at Tallgrass Creek has a meal at the Piccadilly, the restaurant gives a 10% discount. That money is totaled at the end of each month and given back to the community for the Tallgrass Creek Benevolent Care Fund, which provides residents with financial help.

“It’s why we’re able to say that in 25 years, Erickson has never asked a  resident to leave a community because of financial difficulty,” says Mark Meisenheimer, community relations associate at Tallgrass Creek. “It’s how we ensure that once someone moves here, they have a home for life.”
