Executive team in place, Tallgrass Creek nears its fall opening

The executive team is in place at Tallgrass Creek and ready to guide residents and staff through the opening of the campus this fall.

Five members of the eight-member team, which includes Executive Director John Harned, have prior experience with Erickson Retirement Communities.

The team includes:

Michael Shaw—As assistant executive director, Shaw’s responsibilities include overseeing communication specialists, housekeeping, transportation, and custom interiors. Shaw brings four years of experience with Erickson to his new position, having worked at Erickson communities in Pennsylvania and Texas.

Brent Hall—As the director of resident life, Hall guides the areas of social work, wellness, pastoral ministries, community TV, volunteer programs, intermissions, community resources, and home health/home support. Hall started with Erickson in 2005 in the Sedgebrook community in Lincolnshire, Ill.

Thomas Kowaliczko—As the assistant director of general services for Tallgrass Creek, Kowaliczko supervises maintenance, engineering, grounds, security, transportation, and project management. Before coming to Overland Park, Kowaliczko was at Monarch Landing, an Erickson community in Naperville, Ill.

Tina Ballard—As the business analyst at Tallgrass Creek, Ballard oversees budgeting, financial planning, internal auditing, purchasing, and leadership development. Ballard, a certified public accountant, is new to Erickson. Prior to joining Erickson, she worked for ten years as chief financial Ooer with Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation Inc in Abilene, Texas. Ballard also brings 12 years of management experience from Microelectronics & Computer Technology Corporation in Austin, Texas.

William Schwingen—As director of dining services, Schwingen is in charge of dining in the Sunflower Bistro and Blue Sky restaurant and oversees catering, the Audubon Market, and staff development and management. Schwingen is new to Erickson. Previously he worked for eight years as executive director and director of dining services with Sunrise Senior Living and Treat America Food Services in Kansas City. Schwingen also brings 19 years of management experience.

Shelli Giardino—In her position as senior manager of human resources, Giardino supervises recruiting, interviewing, hiring, education, systems implementation, and employee recognition. Giardino joined Erickson in 2003 at the Charlestown community in Catonsville, Md.
