Everything from hostas to homemade honey can be found at the Downtown Overland Park Farmers Market. Seasonal fresh vegetables, plants, flower arrangements, jellies and jams, herbs, bread, and breakfast items (like cinnamon rolls, scones, and coffee) can be purchased.
Live music serenades shoppers each Saturday, and the market attracts lots of buyers and vendors. There is no charge to listen to the music, and the small fountain delights bare-footed children looking for relief from the summer heat.
The market is open from 7:30 a.m. to sell out on Wednesdays and 6:30 a.m. to sell out on Saturdays. The market opened April 14 and will operate until Oct. 31. It is in downtown Overland Park between 79th and 80th street off of Marty. From Tallgrass Creek go north about seven miles on Metcalf Avenue and turn left on Marty. Get there early for the best selection.
