Six fun activities both you and your grandkids can enjoy

It’s not always easy to spend as much time as you’d like with your grandkids. On the one afternoon you have free, they have a soccer match out of town. On the weekend they’re home from college, you’ve got lunch plans with friends.

With families busier and more mobile than ever before, finding time for your grandkids can be a real challenge— and so can finding activities that you can both enjoy.

Fortunately, Tallgrass Creek will make entertaining your grandkids easier than ever. Whether your visitors are little ones or teenagers, you’ll find plenty to do. Here are just a few of the activities Tallgrass Creek community members and their grandchildren will be able to enjoy:

1. Take a dip in the pool
Your young guests will be welcome to splash around in the heated, all-weather swimming pool when there’s not an exercise class or designated lap swim. Simply splash around, or play a fun game of water volleyball.

2. Grab a bite to eat at a restaurant
The restaurants at Tallgrass Creek are a fun treat for your grandkids, and convenient for you. Dig into a casual lunch at the Sunflowerbistro, where even the most finicky eaters are sure to find something to tempt their taste buds. Or, introduce your grandkids to your friends over a cozy dinner in the Blue Sky restaurant. Then, don’t forget to pick up some ice cream for dessert at the convenience store!

3. Shoot some pool or play a hand of cards
Challenge your grandkids to a little friendly competition with a game of billiards. Or, teach them a few of your favorite card games—and maybe even let them win a hand or two.

4. Get a new look
Make your granddaughter’s day by calling ahead for an appointment with the hair stylist at the on-site beauty salon. Update your look with the newest hairstyle.

5. Take in a show
With the Kansas City Repertory Theatre a short distance away, why not encourage your grandkids’ love of the arts and culture by treating them to a musical matinee? Accompany the theatre appreciation group to the show and feel like a celebrity with door to door shuttle service!

6. Shop ‘til you drop
With so much for you and your grandkids to enjoy on campus, you’ll never have to leave the community. But if you do, there’s plenty of local shopping and dining opportunities. A variety of restaurants, including the decadent Andre’s Confiserie Suisse, a chocolate shop and tearoom, are right down the road from Tallgrass Creek. Or, catch the Tallgrass Creek shuttle to a variety of local shopping destinations.

And if you get exhausted from all of these activities, return to your apartment home and pull out the paper and crayons, or put on a movie and pop some popcorn. Many apartment homes feature a guest room so that you and your grandkids can have a slumber party.

Won’t it be a pleasure to devote more time and energy to the people you love? And with so much for both you and your grandkids to enjoy at Tallgrass Creek, you’ll be sure to make the most of that precious time.
