Tallgrass Creek, the newest Erickson retirement community being developed in Overland Park, Kan., began its second semester of classes in January in conjunction with the Erickson Center for Continuous Learning.
The new group of continuous learning seminars began on January 25 when four-time emmy award-winning meteorologist from KMBC Bryan Busby answered questions about severe winter weather in the Kansas City area and shared his best stories from covering extreme snow and ice storms.
The Center for Continuous Learning, was developed as part of founder and CEO John Erickson’s vision to provide a meaningful, valuable lifetime learning experience to people during retirement.
“It was a fun day,” Mark Meisenheimer, community relations associate at Tallgrass Creek, said of the Busby event. “It was a nice blend of learning and fun. I think the students and Bryan all had a great time. It was nice to have a local celebrity like that take time out of his day to join us. And the presentation was informative. I think everyone enjoyed it.” The seminar was Busby’s second appearance for the Center for Continuous Learning.
The classes are open to area residents, free of charge. The program still has four dates remaining on the calendar this spring.
