THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

If you’ve driven by 139th and Metcalf in Overland Park, you’ve seen the site. The signs are in place, the Welcome Center is open for visitors, and now bulldozers are doing their job on campus.

More than 150 guests, including the Governor of Kansas Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. Congressman Dennis Moore, Mayor of Overland Park Carl Gerlach, and other local representatives helped break ground at Tallgrass Creek, a new Erickson community being built in Overland Park, Kan.

“I want you to know that we’re a lot more than just about housing,” founder and CEO of Erickson communities John Erickson said to the guests. “Our whole mission is to make life better for people in their retirement years. The housing is just one aspect. We want people to live healthier, happier, more fulfilling lives. Why hold on with white knuckles to an unfulfilling lifestyle?”

A new style of life
Tallgrass Creek is scheduled to open late next year. It will feature enclosed, weather-proof walkways connecting spacious apartment homes to an amenity rich clubhouse and restaurants. The community will have a safe, maintenance-free campus and a full Fitness Center that includes an all-season pool.

Elaine Douglas from Prairie Village, Kan., joined the Priority List to give herself the best opportunity to reserve one of the new homes. “The maintenancefree lifestyle is something I can really get excited about—no more yard work and more time to do the things I really want to. Next year can’t come soon enough. I’m ready to move in today.”

The ‘best method’
Kansas officials put their support behind Tallgrass Creek. The Erickson lifestyle was welcomed to the Sunflower State with open arms. Erickson serves over 18,000 middle-income adults at campuses around the nation. They are known as a leader in providing apartment-style housing on safe, maintenancefree campuses to middleincome America. “We looked around,” Priority List member Lewis Rogers said. “The amenities offered and value at Tallgrass Creek were the best. It’s great to know that your investment is safe,” with the 100% Refundable Entrance Deposit.

Kansas Governor, Kathleen Sebelius said, “The Erickson model that is in place at 18 other communities throughout the nation has been recognized by the National Governor’s Association as the best method for those in their retirement years. It’s highlighted across the country as something we all need to take a look at…This is a first class facility and helps people make some important choices about staying active. We are delighted to have Erickson here in Kansas.”

Carl Gerlach, mayor of Overland Park, participated in the shovel ceremony and said, “We’re happy to have an established company like Erickson coming to Overland Park. Their years of experience and dedication to making the retirement years better for our citizens will truly be welcomed.”

Tallgrass Creek Retirement Counselor Jane McIntire said that more than 20 people per month are joining their Priority List. For more information about Tallgrass Creek call 913-897-2700 or 1-800 893-3118.
