OVERLAND PARK, KS – Several local, state, and federal officials turned out last week to break ground and celebrate the official start of construction at Tallgrass Creek, Erickson’s newest community, which is being built in Overland Park, Kansas, in the Kansas City area.
Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius was on hand for the event, as were Congressman Dennis Moore and Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach, along with other local, state, and federal leaders. Tallgrass Creek’s first two depositors, Mary Miller and Lewis Rogers, donned hard hats and joined Chairman and CEO John Erickson and Retirement Counselor Jane McIntire to take shovels to dirt and officially mark the start of construction.
“We’re fortunate to have such unqualified support for the project from our elected officials,” says Suzanne Cole, director of sales and marketing for Tallgrass Creek. “The large turnout from our future residents and depositors was doubly rewarding.”
