For all of Chicago’s charms, its winters can be long and difficult— especially for older adults. Between the cold weather and lack of exposure to sunlight,  many people have experienced the “winter blues” at one time. But with a full schedule of leisure activities and hundreds of friends and neighbors nearby, Community Services Director Frank Lamberti says spirits are high at Sedgebrook all year long.“

The holidays are fast approaching. But before we can all gather around the table for a relaxing meal with our families, there is a lot of shopping to do! Oftentimes, that means battling crowds at the mall, overspending on last-minute purchases, and dealing with traffic in snowstorms.

A few months ago, Sedgebrook reduced the cost of its monthly service package, which includes the cost of home maintance, utilities, amenities, and one meal every day. Now, Marketing Director Paul Spence says the community is offering additional limited-time promotions that will make it even easier for people to take advantage of the Erickson retirement lifestyle.

Two years ago, Herb  Grindel moved to an Erickson retirement community in Lincolnshire, which he jokingly calls “The SS Sedgebrook” because he says living there is “just like being on a cruise ship.”
