THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
The holiday season is one of the best times of year to enjoy your home. For Sedgebrook residents, being "home for the holidays" takes on a whole new meaning. From Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day, the Lincolnshire community is aglow with holiday decorations, concerts, and parties.
Eat, drink, and be merry
The season includes concerts by the community’s very own Sedgebrook Singers, religious services for all denominations, and a breakfast with Santa that thrills visiting grandchildren.
"When residents choose to participate in these activities, they are instantly making everlasting memories and sharing these special times with their friends at Sedgebrook," Frank Lamberti, community service manager says.
Glittering and glowing in Sedgebrook’s clubhouse stands a Christmas tree that residents and staff decorate together.
"Residents spend time together making the ornaments and then have the pleasure of placing all the lights, ornaments, and other decorations on the tree," he says.
But, the best part, Lamberti continues, is that residents get to enjoy the holiday décor without any of the hassle of untangling Christmas lights and hauling ornaments out of storage.
Continue family traditions
"Sedgebrook is an inviting place where families are always welcome to come and share the holidays with their loved ones," Lamberti says.
For the last two years, Mary Lou Wager and her husband, Michael, have hosted their family in the private dining room on Christmas Eve. After a delicious holiday meal—prepared and served by Sedgebrook’s staff—the Wagers gather their clan of eight back in their apartment home to open gifts.
When they first decided to move to Sedgebrook, Mrs. Wager says they were worried that they wouldn’t be able to host their family on Christmas Eve. But they quickly learned that they could use the private dining room.
"I’m glad we could still carry on our tradition because we’ve done it for years and years," she says.
