Sedgebrook recently presented a check for $5,000 to its local fire department, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District.

The money will be used to support the Explorers program, which was developed through the Boy Scouts of America to introduce local young men and women ages 16 through 20 to the fire service and its career opportunities.

Working together
“We have a very close relationship with the fire department,” says Gary Kupsak, facilities manager at Sedgebrook. “They do training here and we’ve developed a nice working partnership. So during this season of giving, we wanted to make a donation.”

Local youths benefit
In a donation ceremony attended by numerous Sedgebrook residents, as well as many local high school students involved in the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods program, fire chief Fred Kruger accepted the check from Sedgebrook’s executive director, Ian Brown. Among the area high school represented were Stevenson High School, Buffalo Grove High School, Vernon Hills High School, and Carmel High School.
