“This is an opportunity to make a difference,” says Sedgebrook Executive Director Ian Brown, of his prestigious new appointment to the Lake County Community Foundation board of directors.

Not only is Brown’s appointment a tremendous personal honor, it’s also an opportunity to give Sedgebrook an even stronger voice in the local community.

Giving Back to Lake County
An affiliate of the Chicago Community Trust (the Chicago area’s largest community foundation), the Lake County Community Foundation was established to meet the charitable needs of fast-growing Lake County.

The board’s knowledge of the local community, combined with the vast resources of the Chicago Community Trust, allow the Foundation to target specific areas of need.

“While a fairly wealthy jurisdiction, our county is diverse, comprising rural areas, urban centers, and well-known tourist attractions, a multi-ethnic population, and households with widely varying economic resources,” says Brown.

Supporting Local Causes
Brown’s knowledge of Lake County and his desire to give back to the community make him eminently qualified for the position.

In a congratulatory letter, the Foundation’s chairman, John L. Anderson, writes that Brown’s “unique skills and experience will strengthen the Foundation’s efforts as it works to realize its full potential helping those members of our community who lack adequate health care, affordable housing, and quality education.”

Additionally, Brown hopes that his board appointment will help identify new local efforts for Sedgebrook to help support. In the past, Sedgebrook has hosted area events like the Tri-County Senior Olympics and Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day. The community has also donated to local efforts like the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation, which aids underprivileged children.
