First annual gala brings in $100,000 for Benevolent Care Fund

Posted on Tuesday, October 03, 2006

LINCOLNSHIRE, IL – Sedgebrook hosted its first annual gala fundraiser last week, and raised more than $100,000 for its Benevolent Care Fund. This fund insures that anyone who moves into the community will never be asked to move out, even if their resources are depleted by unforeseen medical expenses.

“What a great party it was!” says Executive Director Ian Brown. “National Board members, residents, staff and guests danced all evening to great music, shared in great conversations, ate delicious food and celebrated life fully.”

More than 350 people attended the gala, and several local companies made donations to benefit the gala, including Nordstrom Samson Associates ($10,000); South Shore Iron Works ($5,000); Westside Mechanica ($5,000); Triangle Decorating Co. LLC ($5,000); and DeFranco Plumbing ($5,000).

“I’d like to personally thank the gala planning team for doing a terrific job to make the Gala a great success,” adds Brown. That team included Laurie Albertson, Carol Ardell, Brent Hall, Roselyn Harvey, Bill Kalnes, Elliott Kroger, Michael McCann, Karen O’Donnell, Al Persondek, Joseph Porretta, and Bob Tragas. “Thanks also to the development team for the strong partnership in helping raise funds from our vendors.”
