News Anchor Pat Cassidy to Offer Revealing Look Into World of Breaking News

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

For more than 35 years, Pat Cassidy of WBBM News Radio 780 has been waking up Chicagoans with their morning news and his signature slogan ‘by dawn’s early light’. “I love what I do and get a huge buzz from breaking news,” he says.

Cassidy’s love of journalism surfaced during his very first job—newspaper delivery boy. Rather than deliver his papers, Cassidy says he would sit on his doorstep and read them, absorbing all of the news.

That passion for the news led to a prestigious career in journalism. Cassidy has won dozens of local and national news awards, including the Robert G. Kennedy Journalism Award, the National Press Club and National Headline Club Award, as well as many Associated Press and United Press International Awards, including several for ‘Best Newscast’.

So what really goes on behind the scenes at a busy news station? On Thursday, October 12, Cassidy will make a special appearance at Sedgebrook to talk about his extensive career and share some of his most memorable news stories. The public is invited to attend and meet the man behind the voice.
