“I just don’t know how anyone could prefer living in a great big house with a lot of unused rooms that you have to clean,” says Muriel Sherman from Lake Forest. According to Muriel, her two-bedroom Fremont is the perfect size for her.
Without the hassles of maintaining a house, Muriel is free to do more of the things she wants to do. “I enjoy the swimming pool, I take aerobics classes, and I use the machines at the Fitness Center.” In addition, Muriel has started the Sedgebrook knitting club. The group is currently knitting blankets and sweaters for underprivileged children in the Chicago area.
Muriel believes her life has changed since she moved to Sedgebrook. “I’ve got more friends, I’m happier, and I just love being here.”
4. Have Fun Keeping Fit
Keeping fit may not sound like everyone’s idea of fun. But when your home includes a state-of-the-art Fitness Center and an all-season swimming pool, you may start singing a different tune.
Instead of driving to an expensive health club, just take a walk down Sedgebrook’s climate-controlled walkways and hop on your favorite exercise machine, or dive into an invigorating water aerobics class. A personal trainer can even work with you to develop an individual fitness regime.
“Unlike living alone in a house, the lifestyle here includes physical activity,” says Sedgebrook’s Wellness Coordinator, Kelly Morris. “And the mentality is to focus on what people are able to do and build on that, rather than focus on what they can’t do.”
Fred Tolzien from Morton Grove will vouch for that. He didn’t belong to a health club before moving to Sedgebrook. In fact, he didn’t think he could enjoy a regular fitness regime due to his arthritis.
However, since moving to Sedgebrook with wife Doris, Fred has been a regular at the Fitness Center. He feels a noticeable change. “My arthritis is much better.”
Had he stayed in his house, Fred believes that he would not feel as healthy as he does now.
5. Let Someone Else Drive
Gene McCaffrey, who moved from Vernon Hills, no longer has to rely on friends and family for a lift around town. The Sedgebrook shuttle picks him up at his door.
The Sedgebrook shuttle will pick you up at the Cardinal Clubhouse and chauffer you to local supermarkets, stores, and places of worship. You can even reserve the shuttle to drop you off and pick you up at the airport. Won’t it be a relief to relax and let someone else do the driving, especially in bad weather?
Sedgebrook offers valuable amenities and services that a house just can’t provide—so that you’re free to do more of the things you want.
