In honor of sweeps month, the Tribune recently asked people at Seabrook, “What kind of programming would you like to see on television that is not currently being shown?” Here are some of the answers we received:
Patricia Neumann
“We had a channel on our schedule that was all game shows—some were old, some were new—but Comcast took it off. We requested that it get put back on, but Comcast decided we could get it but we had to pay for special service. So now we no longer have it. It really got your mind going. I would like to have a channel like that back on my TV.”
Rose Mary Foley
“I’m greatly opposed to the violence, and the sex, and the clothing that many people wear on television. It’s offensive to me, and I think it’s certainly bad for young children to see this. I just wish we could find something educational and interesting for all of us. I think television has gone down greatly. I can remember when the shows were wonderful, like Playhouse 90 and Kraft Theater. It’s really gone away from being a family event to being something not really appropriate for anyone.”
Lynn McGuire
“I would like to see some stories at night, not these comedies and paid programming that are on now. I really enjoy Hallmark Hall of Fame because it has the most fantastic stories—real life stories. I only watch Hallmark, LMN [Lifetime Movie Network], and my husband likes cowboy shows.”
