Residents and staff donate hundreds of school supplies to Thurgood Marshall Elementary

Posted on Tuesday, October 17, 2006

TINTON FALLS, NJ – Seabrook recently held a “Back to School” school supply drive to benefit the Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in nearby Asbury Park, N.J. The more than 1,400 residents and 600 employees collected hundreds of items including notebooks, loose-leaf paper, binders, book covers, crayons, magic markers, pens, pencils, erasers, glue, scissors, staplers, calculators, rulers, pencil cases, and book bags.

Residents and employees were asked to donate new items over a period of two weeks. The items were then delivered to the school by members of Seabrook’s Erickson Way Committee, including Sylvia Molbury, business analyst in the finance department; Nikisia Clay, office clerk in the dining services department; Kim Maguire, accounting office coordinator in the finance department; and Vanessa Smith, director of the human resources department.

“This was just one of the many charitable activities that occur at Seabrook and I am very proud to have been a part of it,” says Smith. (Jackie Schatell)
