Beating the Heat

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Oh, those dog days of summer, when the temperatures soar and the humidity makes it feel like a sauna outside. But when you live at Seabrook in Tinton Falls, it’s easy to beat the heat. In fact, you really don’t have to do a thing.

A Weatherproof Lifestyle

At Seabrook, it’s always a comfortable 72 degrees with low humidity and no rain. That’s because the campus is linked together by enclosed climate-controlled walkways, making the community a small town under one roof.

There’s a bank, two convenience stores, three restaurants, an all-season pool and spa, a Fitness Center, and an array of other amenities, including an oncampus Medical Center and pharmacy. So you can meet your friends for lunch, pick up your mail, do your banking, or attend a class or meeting without ever stepping out into that summer steam bath.

And with over 120 groups, clubs, or activities, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy right at Seabrook.

Of course, there will be times you want to enjoy some outdoor activity. And that’s when you’ll appreciate the fact that Seabrook is only six miles from the shore.

Catch Those Ocean Breezes

A number of people at Seabrook go to the beach on a daily basis, weather permitting. There’s nothing like sitting in the shade of a beach umbrella as those refreshing breezes blow in off the ocean. Or you can stroll along the boardwalk and perhaps stop for a cold lemonade or some ice cream.

One person who goes to the beach quite regularly is Joan Deflin, who moved to Seabrook from Brielle. “My friends and I drive to a number of beaches,” she says. “Manasquan, Sea Girt, Bradley Beach…” All of these locations are less than 20 minutes from Seabrook.

Free Transportation

Sometimes, when they don’t feel like driving and looking for a place to park, Joan and her friends take the Seabrook shuttle to Ocean Grove. During the spring and summer, Seabrook’s transportation department provides twice weekly service to this popular beach destination, very close to the campus, free of charge.

“Ocean Grove is an old and established shore community,” says Seabrook’s transportation director Eric Stein. “It has a beautiful board walk and is home to the ‘Great Auditorium,’ which presents topnotch shows during the spring and summer. It also offers enjoyable shopping in quaint stores on Main Street.”

The Ocean Grove shuttle leaves Seabrook on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Those who go at ten and only want to spend a couple hours can pick up the 12:00 bus on its way back. Or, they can wait for the scheduled return trips at 1:00 and 2:00 p.m.

More Time to Enjoy

Seabrook’s maintenance-free lifestyle makes it easy to go to the beach or whatever you’d like to do on the spur of the moment. Gone are the days when you have to worry about cutting the grass, trimming the hedge, or lining up someone to do those chores. And if anything goes wrong inside your apartment home—a stopped-up drain or an overhead light that’s gone out, for instance—you just pick up the phone and someone will be by to take care of it.

So go out to the beach, go out to the mall, or stay in your Seabrook community and do what you want to do in weatherproof comfort. At the end of an enjoyable day, it’s great to come back to your Seabrook home.

And by the way, you can set your air conditioning to make your home as cool as you want it to be. Don’t worry about the electric bill...your utilities are included in one flat monthly service package that eliminates the “surprises.”
