THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

According to RetirementCommunity.com, the most important thing to do before choosing a retirement community is to spend lots of time visiting and talking to residents.”

Liz Pulliam Weston, author of 11 Keys to Choosing the Right Retirement  Community, agrees. She places in-person visits and talking to current residents  on the top of her must-do list.

At the nearby Riderwood community, in Silver Spring, more and more people are finding that the best way to discover life at an Erickson community is to attend a free “insiders” informational luncheon. In fact, over the last six months, attendance at these popular luncheons has increased by 53% compared to the same time last year.

Getting to know you
Recognizing the value of getting to know Riderwood on a deeper level, the informational luncheons provide a wonderful opportunity to meet Retirement Counselor Sally Sager in person, meet and dine with current residents, learn more about available apartment homes, and ask important questions. For many, it’s the natural next step— after reviewing the detailed Information Kit—in the planning process.

“Before my wife and I made the move to Riderwood, we attended luncheons and definitely benefited from doing so,” says Hal Winters. “We toured the clubhouses, asked our questions, and visited various apartments.

“I believe the greatest benefit of coming to a luncheon is the exposure. You’re given a good overall view of Riderwood, as well as information from the staff and a resident’s point of view. You can also ask all the questions you want. What can I say? I’m sold on this place.”

Delightful dining
Guests enjoy expertly prepared entrées, like this month’s fresh salmon topped with creamy feta cheese, olives, and tomatoes in a lemon wine sauce; summer squash spring salad with crunchy baby vegetables and sweet strawberries; and parfaits of layered raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries topped with sweet whipped cream.

“I’ve spent my career delighting patrons of some of the top-rated restaurants in the world,” says Riderwood Executive Chef Victor Cirrincione. “I now bring these rare culinary experiences to each and every meal. The food enjoyed at each luncheon is prepared with the same attention to taste and detail as all of the options available every day at Riderwood.”
