Question: I’ve heard that Riderwood’s newest restaurant— The Overlook— offers exhibition dining. What does that mean?
Answer:
Guests of Riderwood’s fifth on-site restaurant, The Overlook, like to watch their meals as they are prepared—before their eyes by Riderwood’s team of professional chefs.
Accommodating up to 260 dinner guests at one time, guests may request to sit at the cooking counter, located in front of the exhibition area of the kitchen. Here they get an up-close-and-personal view of their meal preparation on a six-burner, open-flame stove.
Culinary skill is not the only view restaurant patrons enjoy during this unique dining experience. As the name implies, The Overlook also provides spectacular views of the surrounding landscape through large picture windows.
Each night, guests choose from five succulent entrees, including Hawaiian mahi mahi, roast beef au jus, Chinese honey-roasted chicken, and crab quiche. But you’d better save room for dessert. On various evenings, The Overlook features desserts prepared in the exhibition area, including bananas Foster, cherries jubilee, and strawberries Romanoff. Other days of the week, the oven in the exhibition area is used to bake breads, cookies, and pies.
The Overlook is located in the Lakeside Commons Clubhouse and is open for lunch, Monday–Friday 11:30 a.m.–3 p.m., dinner Monday–Friday 3 p.m.–6:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 4 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
