Riderwood Residents Remain Unaffected by Maryland’s Rising Electric Bills

Recent news regarding the impending 72 percent increase in electricity bills* for customers supplied by Baltimore Gas and Electric and 38 percent for Pepco customers finds many people scrambling to budget for this unexpected change.

Combating this uncertainty, Riderwood provides a comprehensive monthly service package which remains constant throughout the hot summer months and long, cold winters.

Difficult Position

According to a recent article published in The Baltimore Sun, electricity bills will increase by an expected $743 a year for the average Baltimore Gas and Electric residential customer. The increase is slated to go into effect in July when the legislated rate caps expire.

Speaking to The Baltimore Sun, Peggy Vick, the director of volunteers and family services at the Salvation Army in Baltimore, is quoted as saying, “People are going to be in crisis. They're not going to be able to sustain their households. There are a lot of people in our society who have to choose between having electricity or food or getting their prescriptions filled—what we consider the basics in life.”

Protecting Your Interests

Luckily, no one living at Riderwood will have to make such an important and difficult choice. “We continue to share the good news with everyone interested in moving to Riderwood,” says  Retirement Counselor Sally Sager.

“You can rest assured knowing that regardless of the predicted changes in electricity prices, your monthly service package will remain unaffected. As a result, you can plan your budget with confidence and peace of mind.”

In addition to heat and electricity, the Riderwood monthly service package includes home and seasonal maintenance such as air conditioning inspections and furnace conditioning. All major repairs, 24-hour security, one meal a day, and cable television are also included.

Affordability and an Unbeatable Lifestyle

“Riderwood is up front with what you get for your money. There are no surprises, it’s there and easy to see and understand what you get,” says Guy Denney, who moved to Riderwood with his wife Alice from Leisure World. “The monthly service package is right on target for what your monthly expenses are and I do think it’s affordable.”

This affordability coupled with protection against this summer’s soaring electricity bills means that more people are reserving their homes at Riderwood than ever before. To find out how you can join the Riderwood community before it sells out; call 301-495-5700 today.
