Monarch Landing residents and staff put Naperville Mayor George Pradel and Warrenville Mayor David Brummel to the test last month—and it had nothing to do with public policy or government.
The elected officials were the first to try out Monarch Landing’s new wellness program, VIVA!. The program includes a series of simple, non-invasive screenings that focus on the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of aging. At the recent event, Mayors Pradel and Brummel got a full wellness assessment, including tests that measured balance and cardiovascular function.

“I think [VIVA!] is a great idea. The procedure was very helpful and not at all intrusive,” Brummel says. Monarch Landing residents started receiving VIVA! screenings this fall.
“No other health provider in the Chicago area has these research-based assessments available,” says Monarch Landing Executive Director Patty Luessenhop, “and we are proud to introduce VIVA to our Naperville and Warrenville communities by first sharing VIVA! with our two favorite mayors!”
