Monarch Landing employees recently walked twelve hours and raised over $2,000 to help in the fight against cancer. Team Monarch Landing was among 100 local groups participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
The event, which helps fund research to prevent, detect, and treat cancer, kicked off on the Naperville North High School track at 6 p.m. on a Friday. Participants walked through the night until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Team Monarch Landing was 26 people strong, says Development and Construction Office Manager and Team Captain Carrie Heinen. “We have a lot of young people working here at Monarch Landing, and I knew that we could get a good group out there to represent Erickson’s support of cancer research.”
Heinen said she was proud that Monarch Landing could do a small part to help in the fight against a disease that affects more than ten-million Americans and their loved ones. “We were out there walking to remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer, and rejoice with those who have fought this disease and won.”
The money Monarch Landing raised for the American Cancer Society will go towards cancer research.
