Predictions Prove True: Monarch Landing on Pace to Sell Out Before Opening

By Melissa Borgerding

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

Marketing Director Joe Zukauskas pours freshlybrewed coffee into porcelain cups for a visiting couple from Wheaton. At just ten o’clock in the morning, Monarch Landing bustles with visitors come to tour the model apartment, view floor plans, and gather more information. The phones haven’t stopped ringing since Joe arrived early this morning.

As far back as spring, Joe predicted that Monarch Landing would sell out before opening in August. Now, just days away from the Grand Opening, his prediction is proving strikingly accurate.

Avoiding a Long Wait and an Uncertain Future

As the Grand Opening races closer, Monarch Landing has experienced an upswing in appointments, keeping Joe and the rest of the team extremely busy.

“People are beginning to realize that we really are on pace to sell out before we open, and they don’t want to get left out,” he says.

Among those unwilling to get left behind is Rosemary of Indian Head Park. “I want to move now. I don’t want to wait five years and have to make a decision I don’t want to make.”

On average, people wait up to three to five years to get into an Erickson community like Monarch Landing once it sells out.

Karl and Mary of St. Charles have lived in their house for 20 years. Like Rosemary, they aren’t willing to wait there for what could be an uncertain amount of time. “We want to leave our house because it’s too much work,” says Mary. “We’re ready to have a little fun now.”

Saving More Than Just ‘Chump Change’

Rosemary voices another reason for the spike in appointments: cost. “I don’t want to pay more. The cost is going to go up every year.”

Historically, the cost of the entrance deposit goes up at Erickson communities nationwide each year, Joe explains. “More and more people are discovering ‘Hey, by reserving now, I’m going to pay a lot less than people who reserve next year or the year after.’”

By reserving now, Karl, Mary, and Rosemary will also get to take advantage of pre-opening prices, which could save them as much as $15,000 on the cost of the entrance deposit.

“We’re not talking chump change here,” says  Elaine from Roselle, who just recently retired from a law firm in downtown Chicago. “When I heard about the thousands of dollars I could save with preopening prices, that was very appealing. I could not resist that.”

Number of Visitors Doubles, Continues to Rise

“Demand for Monarch Landing has never been higher,” says Joe, indicating his busy surroundings.

Previously, Monarch Landing saw up to five visitors each day. As Grand Opening approaches, that number has more than doubled with as many as twelve people a day scheduling visits to the Naperville community.

Joe jokes that if this trend continues, the Sales and Information Office will need to buy a bigger coffee pot.

“This is really happening,” says Joe, starting a fresh pot of coffee for the next wave of visitors. “We predicted that we would sell out before Grand Opening, and now it looks like we are  really going to do it.”
