Enjoy a Healthy and Delicious Meal Without Ever Turning on Your Oven

By Melissa Borgerding
THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

“What should I make for dinner tonight? ”It’s a question you’ve probably asked yourself time and again. But chances are the idea of preparing a meal every night seems about as fun as vacuuming or washing the dishes.

Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy a tasty and nutritious meal every night without the chore of cooking it yourself—or cleaning up afterwards?

At Monarch Landing you only have to cook if you want to. With two on-site restaurants, an executive chef, and one meal a day included in your monthly service package, go ahead and leave the cooking and the cleaning to us.

Your Favorite Lunch and Breakfast Spot

Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to dine among friends and meet new neighbors in Monarch Landing’s two on-site restaurants.

Drop by the Riverwalk Café for breakfast or lunch in a cheerful atmosphere. Just like your favorite neighborhood café, the daily specials are written on the board, and you’re sure to find something different each day.

For breakfast, sample the freshly brewed coffee, fruit juice, or order up a meal off the griddle. A savory assortment of deli sandwiches, soup, hot meals made to order, and a salad bar are offered at lunch.

The Riverwalk Café is a bright and airy space with plenty of windows to let in the light. Here, you can enjoy a casual meal with friends, or, if you’re running late for your card club, grab something quick to go.

An Elegant Evening Meal

For a more traditional dining experience, pull up a seat at The Millstone restaurant where your very own chef dé cuisine creates a menu of healthy and delicious selections every evening.

Like your favorite restaurants, The Millstone serves up great food in a relaxed setting, but withoutthe hassles of reservations, driving, or parking.

Erickson residents Ted and Laura Lennox compare their dining experience at Henry Ford Village in Dearborn, Mich., to dining on an exclusive cruise ship.

“Cruise ships are noted for having wonderful, delicious food,” says Ted. “But the quality and selection of dining in the restaurant here on campus is just as good as what we had on the cruise ship.”

What’s on the Menu?

So what sort of selection and variety will Monarch Landing diners see on their menu? A typical Millstone restaurant menu might include entrées like roast prime rib or beef, sautéed Great Lakes perch, mushroom stuffed chicken breast, and a garden vegetable stir fry.

Of course, you’ll want to save a little room for dessert. Follow a savory meal with a treat for your sweet tooth. Your chef dé cuisine has a choice of  tempting desserts to compliment your meal.

As tasty as the food is, would you believe that it’s also good for you? Eating well is just another example of the benefits of Erickson HealthSM.

Fresh ingredients, limited additives, sensational menus, and healthy options all add up to food that does your body good.

What if I Want to Cook?

Do any Erickson residents miss cooking? Not really. Most agree with Ginger Kotz, who lives at Sedgebrook, Monarch Landing’s sister community in Lincolnshire.

Ginger considers herself a pretty good cook, but she’d much rather let someone else take care of the preparation, the clean up, and the grocery shopping. “Sedgebrook does the cooking for me,” she says.

However, if you feel like cooking, you can. Every apartment home at Monarch Landing includes a modern kitchen with new  appliances including a dishwasher and range. Your Chef’s Design kitchen makes entertaining easy and clean up . . . what clean up?

For special occasions, why not reserve Monarch Landing’s private dining room? This intimate, private room is the perfect place for family get-togethers, birthday parties, and holiday celebrations.

With so many unique dining options available, you may never have to turn on your oven again. Replace that annoying question of “What will I make for dinner tonight?” with a better one: “What will I choose from my menu tonight?”
