It will be another great place for people to congregate, start their day, and get a good bite to eat.

Maris Grove officials announced that the Cardinal Clubhouse, the second clubhouse on campus, is on schedule for a May opening.

“The new clubhouse should really spice things up,” says Julieann Brant, retirement counselor at Maris Grove. “From the new restaurants to new social opportunities, this clubhouse should have something for everyone and be another hub of social activity. It will give community members even more options.”

Bases covered
Brant says that Maris Grove listened to the residents when they planned the new community building.

“We looked at what we had in the Brinton Clubhouse and thought about ways to expand our offerings. We listened to what people wanted. This new clubhouse will give our community members even more dining options and more room to spend time with each other socially.”

The new dining options will include the Blue Sky Restaurant and Grove Pub and Bistro.

Other highlights of the community’s new clubhouse will be a 230-seat performing arts center, classrooms, pub, and an expanded creative arts studio.

There will be some unique features for the outdoor-minded residents as well. These additions will include a professionally landscaped terrace area and outdoor bocce courts.

“Bocce is one of the most popular activities in our other Erickson communities,  and the demand for the activity here was great enough that we decided to go ahead and put in a court for community members. I’m sure we’ll have an in-house league up and running in no time,” says Executive Director Maureen Heckler.

Chic and unique
Some features in the Cardinal Clubhouse will be a bit different from the original Brinton Clubhouse. It will be home to an inhouse TV studio and spa.

Heckler says, “We’ll be resident run. With the TV studio, we’ll be able to share news on campus and give people the opportunity to get in front of the camera. With the spa, community members don’t have to leave campus to get their hair done or have the latest facial treatments.”

“It’s important not to lose track of the spiritual side of life either,” says Pam Matschat, director of sales at Maris Grove. So the new clubhouse will also include an interfaith chapel.

Spiritual side
“We are excited to have a new home for our Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish faith groups here at Maris Grove,” Brant says. “The chapel will give everyone a place to worship, enjoy fellowship, and further opportunities to grow spiritually on their own and have an understanding of the many different faiths within our community.”

The chapel will be used for a variety of purposes, including regular worship, private meditation, and even weddings. “It really will offer peace and solitude and a place for our residents to reflect,” Brant says. “It will be a welcome addition to our community.”

A complementing style
The new clubhouse is located on the west side of campus.

“The clubhouse location is great for both our current residents and the Priority List members—people who have made a deposit to reserve a home at Maris Grove,” Brant says.

“All Maris Grove residents will have access to the features in the new clubhouse,” she adds, “but obviously the members of the Priority List who reserve homes nearby will be located just a short walk down the hall from it all.”
