A perfect plan

One company based in Pennsylvania is taking all the hassle out of the moving process. And their name says it all.

The Perfect Plan helps people from around Philadelphia and across the country ensure their move goes as smoothly as possible from start to finish.

Let someone else ‘ingest the stress’
Lynn Donnelly, who co-founded the company in 2001 with her sister says, “We’ve moved before but were shocked at what a cold, tough process it was. Our company was formed to provide guidance and assistance with compassion and empathy throughout the entire moving process.”

With a background in wedding planning and her sister’s background in corporate events planning, the company was one of the first of its type in the region. “We had a client just fall into our lap one day when he realized there was no one to help him move,” Donnelly says.

The rest is history
“Many of the skill sets cross over,” Lynn says. “You have to be a good organizer, have the ability to ingest stress for your clients, be able to troubleshoot and problem solve. And you always have to have a good backup plan.”

Belongings packed, beds made
George and Peg Spitzner used the company when they recently moved from their former home in North Wales, Pa. to Maris Grove, an Erickson Retirement Community just outside of Philadelphia.

“They came in and put us at ease,” Peg Spitzner says. “In just a couple of days, they came into our home, helped wrap and pack everything, and marked the packages. And on moving day, they were at the house, watching over the whole operation and making sure everything got on the truck. When we arrived at our new home, they got us unpacked and even had the beds made and put together for us.

“They were just so cooperative and helped everything go so smoothly. It was definitely a good value—they made moving so much easier.”

Clutter-free living
Before moving, the Spitzners also used The Perfect Plan to help them reduce their clutter.

“It’s so important to reduce clutter when you’re trying to sell a house,” Donnelly says. “Buyers these days like to see a neat and tidy home. So we can come in and pack some unnecessary things a bit early.”

If a client wants to get rid of old furniture, Donnelly says they can also give their clients a full selection of appraisers, dealers, and charities.

“We don’t like to throw anything away. Offer things to family first,” she says. “Surprisingly, it often costs more to throw something away than it does to donate it or to sell it.”

The Perfect Plan receives no profit from the sale or donation of goods or referral commissions from outside companies. “We never tell a client what to do with their belongings. But we do let them know what their options are,” Donnelly says. “They have all the power; we’re just a hand there for guidance.”
