Resident chooses Maris Grove without seeing it first

THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE
Florence McLellan, from Wyckoff, New Jersey, is a chance-taker. And the most recent leap she took has paid off, she said.
A traveler by nature, she couldn’t resist the chance to see someplace new.
An adventurous lady, with a quick wit and keen sense of humor, she moved to Maris Grove from Northern New Jersey without ever seeing her new apartment home with her own two eyes!
“I just hoped I made the right choice,” the new resident said. “And I couldn’t be happier. There was no caution necessary - this place is just wonderful! Everyone is so kind and nice, and so happy to be here.”
Family matters
When the house she built in New Jersey 52 years ago became too much to keep up, she thought it was time to simplify. “I just felt it might be time to do something different.” There were a number of communities she could have chosen, she said. She was also interested in two other Erickson communities in New Jersey, but McLellan chose Maris Grove because it was just one mile away from her daughter. “That was a deciding factor,” she said. “It was time to move closer to family.”
When she arrived at Maris Grove for the first time, she was excited. “It is very, very nice here. Well worth the move. I like my new home and I love the people.”
Globetrotting
A native of England, there’s only a few spots on the globe she’s never been to. McLellan’s father was in the British Army. “That means every two years we would be somewhere new,” she said. “I guess I am a bit of a traveler,” she said, with her coy British accent, belying her sweet, outgoing nature.
During World War II, she left a job working at a newspaper to join the British Army. “It was either that or work in a factory. Of course I chose the army,” she said.
