THE ERICKSON TRIBUNE

In April, 2005, Erickson Communities opened Maris Grove’s Welcome Center to an overwhelming response. Now, the much anticipated Grand Opening is here— Maris Grove is officially open!

The Grand Opening ceremony took place on October 4 before more than 500 people. But even before that the staff at Maris Grove knew the turnout would be extraordinary.

“It’s been so exciting to watch this new community blossom since we opened the Welcome Center,” says Pam Matschat, Maris Grove retirement counselor. “People living close by who were familiar with the success of our sister community, Ann’s Choice in Bucks County, were thrilled to learn we were building another Erickson community here in Delaware County. Now, the Grand Opening is finally upon us—the doors are open.”

For Dolores Recupito, the opening couldn’t be more exciting. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time—even before I knew the community was being developed,” says Dolores who moved in to Maris Grove on October 3. “I visited Ann’s Choice awhile back, but it was too far from my life here in Delaware County. So I wrote them a letter and told them, ‘If you ever decide to build a community near me, I’ll be the first to join.’”

A woman of her word, Dolores even brought a check with her to her first appointment at Maris Grove.

“There are a lot of communities in the area, but none of them offered the amenities and the aesthetic beauty of Erickson communities,” she says. “My home was on 1.5 beautiful acres with flowers, gardens, a pond, and a bridge. I feel like I’ve got that now at Maris Grove. It’s got beautiful flowers, trails, a lake, and so much more.”

An Innovative Community
Pam says in addition to the people who knew about Erickson, there was a tremendous amount of interest from people who simply drove by and saw signs about the new community.

“That told me there was a real need for a community like Maris Grove in this area,” she added. “We stand out because we offer an amenity-rich, resort-style community that’s maintenance free. It’s a secure, gated community with a huge clubhouse, on-site restaurants, a bank, convenience store, swimming pool, Fitness Center and full-service Medical Center. Not to mention 87 acres of rolling hills, walking trails, even a lake. Who wouldn’t be interested?”

“We were smart to join the Priority List,” says Annis Dunlap, who, along with her husband, Richard, are moving to Millers Run on October 5. “Because we joined, we were among the first to move in. We’re Pioneers! Best of all, we sold our house in seven hours. So it was meant to be.”

Annis says there are many reasons why they chose to make the move, none more attractive than the maintenance-free lifestyle.

Maintenance-Free Means Carefree
“No more cutting the grass or raking leaves. All that’s taken care of now,” Annis says. “It’s an exciting new beginning. We have a new home to decorate, new friends to make, and almost everything we need right here in the community.”

Now instead of spending hours maintaining a home, the Dunlaps and other Pioneers will use that time to pursue other rigors of life, like swimming at Maris Grove’s Aquatics Center, fishing on the lake, partaking in various clubs and activities, and relaxing over delicious chef-prepared meals at the on-site restaurants.

“We like the idea of mixing with a lot of people our own age,” says Elmer Thompson, who with his wife, Pat, plan to move to Maris Grove this fall. “With so many things to do, this will be a chance to really enjoy ourselves and not have to worry about maintaining a big old house.”

“I think when it comes down to it, everyone has chosen this lifestyle because they’ve finally found what they’ve been looking for,” says Pam. “They’ve worked hard their whole lives taking care of their families and saving for retirement. Now, they want a lifestyle where they no longer have to sweat the details. Maris Grove is their muchdeserved reward that allows them to enjoy all the things they never had time for before.”
